Background
Chamonix is an unbelievable ski centre with ample to do for all: old, young,
sporty, non-sporty, cultural. There are just so many restaurants and bars to
choose from you will no know where to start. Most of our Chamonix apartments,
chalets and accommodation are right in the middle of the resort centre. This
gives you ideal access to ALL the ski fields, shops and multiple bars and
restaurants. They also all come with parking to cater for the excess bursts of
car volumes in high season. There is ample to do either for your ski or walking
holiday. You will also be pleased to know all our Chamonix apartments and
accommodation, although on quiet roads themselves, are all 1 minute walk from
the centre. Please read below for additional information to help you prepare for
your Chamonix holidays. Please note that all emergency numbers will be listed in
each of our apartments.
The Chamonix Valley is situated in the centre of the Mont Blanc region, on
the French-Swiss border, and stretches over 55km from Servoz to Vallorcine. From
one end of the valley to the other there are numerous towns starting at Les
Houches, Chamonix Mont Blanc, Les Praz, Argentière and to Vallorcine. If you
want to venture further afield (your ski holiday Chamonix is not enough!) it is
easy to take day trips to neighbouring resorts in Italy and Switzerland, just on
the other side of the mountains. There are still some remaining glaciers in the
valley - of which the most famous is the Mer de Glace - part of the Valley
Blanche ski route. The views are spectacular throughout the year making
snowboarding and skiing Chamonix and Chamonix summer holidays a must for
everyone! There are 10000 Chamonix habitants rising to 40000 and 90000 in the
winter and summer peak seasons.
Maison de la Montagne
The old presbytery de l'Eglise houses the Ecole de Ski Francais (ESF)
Chamonix, La Compagnie des Guides and the Office de Haute Montagne (OHM). For
the latest weather the OHM has live satellite screens. All ski schools can be
booked from here. For your information, all our Chamonix apartments are within 5
minutes walking distance.

Argentiere
Argentiere is at the far end of the Chamonix valley, en route to Le Tour,
Vallorcine and Switzerland. It lies at the foot of Les Grands Montets ski area
which offers arguably the best and most challenging skiing in the valley. The
village itself, while fairly small, is vibrant with an assortment of good shops,
bars and restaurants along the main street.
