Les Chalets d'Alpage is a small cluster of MGM-built chalets nestled in the mountainside in a quiet corner of Les Houches up a hill from the village centre on a private driveway road with well-kept gardens. The apartment is in a traditional Savoyard style chalet right next to the local ski jump. It is is situated on the first (and top) floor, accessed by its own front door and entrance balcony which overlooks the village ski jump. Inside, this charming apartment, has sloping roofs throughout. There is a small double bedroom overlooking the pistes of Les Houches and down the valley, with a queen size double bed and built-in wardrobes. There is a second cabine style bedroom with a set of bunk beds and a Velux window looking towards Coupeau and Parc Merlet on the Brevent side of the mountain. In the corridor there is a floor-to-ceiling cupboard for storage. There is a separate toilet as well as a fully tiled bathroom with good size bath and overhead power-shower, wash basin with good-sized under storage cupboard underneath, wall-mounted mirror and cupboard. The kitchen area has a wall-mounted oven and grill, four-ring ceramic hob, fridge (with small freezer compartment) and dishwasher. The living area has a modern large comfortable sofa, a pine dining table and four chairs. There is also a small flat screen television and DVD player, with French digital terrestrial channels, with some programmes in English. There is also high speed internet access int he apartment, accessed with an ethernet cable. French doors lead to a large balcony, protected by the sloping wooden roof under the roof eaves, with views towards the Aiguille du Midi and Glacier Rond. There are no other chalets directly in front or behind our chalet, just tranquil Alpages, or grazing lands, on which cows happily munch away on the grass in the summer. Behind the chalet is the village all weather ski jump and the slopes are excellent for sledging from right outside the front door! Outside the apartment there is ample free parking. Directly underneath the chalet there is a good size cave for bike/ luggage storing etc as well as a ski locker. There is also an underground parking space for one car (under 2m high). A five minute walk down the hill brings you to the centre of Les Houches with a supermarket, the tourist office, a bank, post office, newsagents with English newspapers, the town hall, a bakers/patisserie and hairdressers. There’s a traditional French hotel bar as well as a stylish English-speaking bistro bar/ restaurant that opens for lunch, dinner and apres-ski. Next to the town hall is the ski bus stop that will take you directly to the base of the lifts at Bellevue and Prarion up-lifts in Les Houches or into Chamonix town centre. All in all, this apartment is a small, but perfectly formed apartment that offers a peaceful place to stay for your Chamonix valley ski holiday with easy access to the ski areas of Les Houches and Chamonix town centre just a 8 minute car ride away. Other ski areas such as Les Contamines, St Gervais and even Courmayeur in Italy are just 30 minutes away by car. HouchesA is a perfect getaway for a family or group of friends wanting to enjoy a mountain holiday in the spectacular Chamonix valley.
