Aiguille du Midi Cable Car (3842m)
One of the highest cable cars in the world, in two sections, it will take you on
a spectacular aerial voyage, up to Aiguille du Midi surrounded by world-famous
summits, forever linked with mountaineering firsts - you will be able to
contemplate a unique panoramic view over the Mont Blanc and the Alps. The views
are stunning. Chamonix holidays are worth it just for this!
Brevent (2525m)
The best views of the Mont Blanc massif are from the top of the Brevent cable car.
Casino
Featuring French and English roulette, black jack, poker every day form 21-03hr. Located on the Place du Saussure.
Cinema
With three screens, featuring Dolby sound, and different screening times
throughout the day. Films marked VO on posters are shown in English.
Helicopter
You can take a helicopter ride over the mountains - an unbelievable experience.
L'Arcade
In the middle of the resort, the newly renovated l'Arcade offers 200m2 of
amusement arcades. Pinball, video games, billiards, simulators, table football,
air hockey and 35 games for all ages.
Le Salon
Treat yourself - the concept of Le Salon is to understand the needs of every
client and offer them a professional and pleasant service. Within a warm and
comfortable atmosphere, the staff, who regularly take international courses to
ensure the expansion of their skills, will take the time to offer you different
types of customised hairdressing services. They also offer a wide range of
relaxing and invigorating massages. Le Salon can be found on the Rue des
Moulins, and is open 9am-9pm.

Mont Blanc Tramway
This railway is the highest in France. Throughout the voyage, peaks and
valleys unfold for your delight - the Contamines valley, Aiguille du Gouter,
Aiguilles Rouges, Aiguille du Midi. Today, the Mont Blanc Tramway is one of the
last rack & pinion trains in France although the locomotives are no longer steam
powered. In winter it takes you to the Bellevue/ Prarion ski area at 1800m, a
pleasurable picturesque journey and exceptional panorama. In summer, the Tramway
takes you to the foot of the Bionnassay Glacier, the Nid d'Aigle, at an altitude
of 2372 metres. From here experienced mountaineers can climb to the Tête Rousse
and Goûter mountain huts, and the Mont Blanc.
Montenvers Railway
Explore the Mer de Glace in its wintery or summery finery at the foot of the
Drus, la Verte and Les Grandes Jorasses peak. From the arrival station, you can
visit the crystal gallery, the alpine fauna exhibition and the ice grotto.
Musee Alpin
The Musee Alpin tells the story of two generations of life in the valley through
archives, an extensive stamp collection, clothing, mountain equipment and the
objects that would normally fill valley dweller's homes. Exhibitions retrace the
history of alpine life and the role of skiing. Housed in the historic
Chamonix-Palace, which was built at the end of the last century, le Musee Alpin
is open from 15-21hr every day.
Shopping
Chamonix has a wide range of shops, catering for all tastes and budgets. The
majority of shops are to be found in the central pedestrian precinct and the
surrounding streets. Take the time to browse. For sporting clothes, you will be
spoilt for choice in Chamonix, Sanglard Sport and Ogier Sport both offer very
large selections as does Snell Sports on rue du Dr Paccard. Certain shops
specialise in snowboard equipment, like Zero G or Invasion, others exclusively
stock a specific make such as Helly Hansen, Patagonia and Peak Performance. If
it is high fashion you are looking for then go to Chez Donna et Ses Salons on
the place de Saussure. For children and baby outfits, visit Les Petites
Galleries on rue Dr Paccard. If you are looking for furnishings, you will find
beautiful traditional alpine ornaments and trinkets at Alpine Design, on rue des
Moulins or at Reves d'Hiver on avenue Michel Croz. Lovers of regional
specialities will find a wealth of specialised delicatessens in Chamonix in
particular La Spiga d'Oro, on avenue Ravanelle Le Rouge. Tour of Historic Chamonix
Chamonix has a rich and diverse architectural heritage. Key features of this
tour, which can be booked at the Tourist Office include l'Eglise St Michel, la
Marie and the Priory.
Trip To Annecy
Try a trip to the Annecy and visit one of the most beautiful lakes of Europe.
The old town is a must for shops, restaurants and historic entertainment also
known as the Venice of the Alps.
Trip To Italy
Try a trip to the Aoste Valley, through the Mont Blanc tunnel. There are
specific market days where you can pick up the local specialities at a very
reasonable price.
Trip To Switzerland
A popular daytrip is a scenic train ride over the border to Switzerland with
the Mont Blanc Express from Chamonix to Martigny. Once in Martigny visit The
Pierre Gianadda Foundation. Another popular stop on the Chamonix - Martigny line
is the little Swiss village of Chatelard. From here the steep Chatelard
Funicular takes visitors up to the Emosson dam and lake. In the Haute-Savoie
(this alpine region) do not miss the colourful weekly markets and their range of
local produce.
